Dangerous operations under the Factories Act (Section 87)

Operations a State may declare “dangerous”, each with special precautions and a Certifying-Surgeon medical examination. Maharashtra declares 25 in Rule 114, Schedules I–XXV.

Under section 87 of the Factories Act 1948 a State may declare certain operations “dangerous” and prescribe special precautions, including medical examination by the Certifying Surgeon. Maharashtra does this in a single consolidated rule — Rule 114(1) of the Maharashtra Factories Rules 1963 — which declares 25 numbered dangerous operations, with the detailed requirements set out in Schedules I–XXV (mapped 1:1 to the operation number). Below, the operation name, schedule and medical-examination clause are statutory; the hazard, health-effects, controls and PPE notes are occupational-hygiene context, not statutory text.
