Not specified as a periodic CS exam — Sch IX prescribes washing/hygiene facilities, protective clothing, anthrax cautionary notices and twice-weekly inspection of hands of chrome-contact workers (no periodic exam / Form). General s.41C / periodic exam applies.

Hazard & health effects

Agent: Anthrax (from raw hides); lime (alkaline); chrome solutions; H₂S in pits

Health effects: Cutaneous/inhalational anthrax; alkaline burns and dermatitis; chrome dermatitis/ulcers; H₂S asphyxiation.

Controls & PPE

Engineering controls: Anthrax precautions and disinfection of suspect hides; decontamination facilities; confined-space (pit) controls and gas testing; twice-weekly hand inspection.

PPE: Impervious gloves, aprons, boots; respiratory protection for anthrax-risk handling and pit work.
